According to the World Health Organization, there isn’t any evidence which concludes that microplastics pose any harm to human beings. In the present-day, the microplastics are found everywhere, even in the drinking water. Moreover, this led the people to believe in the fact that microplastics are harmful for human consumption. Nevertheless, more research is required to draw fast calculations.
After the recent study, WHO said that elements such as microplastics are omnipresent. If people begin to examine microplastics, they will find it in wastewater, freshwater, air, food, tap water, bottled war, among others. The study also said that there is a widespread concern related to microplastics in drinking water. However, the evidence is not credible enough to suggest that microplastics are harmful for human consumption.
Before the research came into being, the biofilms present in the drinking water suggested that the microorganisms attach themselves to microplastics. Hence, these microplastics give rise to a wide array of health issues in human beings.
WHO said that the diseases are associated with the poor or untreated drinking water. The health officials across the US and the world should make it an urgent priority in solving the unsanitary water conditions. The risks that the microplastics bring forward are relatively less than the specific threat posed by diversified and high concentration pathogens found in livestock and human waste.
Public health director of the WHO, Dr. Maria Neira also does acknowledge the conclusions which are generally reached in the report focusing on the incomplete information. Neira said in a statement that there is an urgency to know the amount of impact that the microplastics possess. They are also present in every corner of the world. The world filled with researchers also do not have ample of evidence when it comes to finding microplastics in drinking water.
Nevertheless, there is also a need to find out more about the entirety and existence of these particles. The emergence of microplastics can come to a decent rate of decline if the water across the world is not polluted. If people are trying to ponder on the definition of microplastics, then they are going to be extremely disappointed. There is no definitive definition when it comes to miniature plastic particles.
Usually, the microplastics come into being when the human-made plastics break down in tiny little particles. As far as the size of the particles is concerned, then they are usually 5 millimeters in length.
